Hi
I am recent MBA graduate from a 2 year MBA Program. I was student from September 1st to April 30. My Visa expires on July 30th. I need to apply for extension before a month and eligible for apply for post graduation work permit within 90 days of graduation.
I have applied for work permit on May 30th and presently CIC website mentions a processing time of 20 days.
The issue is my name on study permit is not exactly same as my name (last two alphabets are missing from my last name) as in passport or transcript.
From CIC website
If a CIC officer discovers a clerical/administrative error made by CIC
As per subsection 6(2) of the Privacy Act, if a CIC officer discovers a clerical/administrative error made by CIC, they must make a change to match the name printed on the primary document without a request from the client. In the event that the error is detected after document issuance, the client’s record will be amended indicating the correct spelling that will be printed on a replacement document. The original document number will be cancelled and the replacement document will be sent to the client (free of charge). A note will be recorded in CIC’s system of record and the client will be notified of the action, in line with the Privacy Act. The correct name will be recorded as the primary name and the erroneous name will be marked as entered in error, in CIC’s system of record.
So, should expect CIC to make necessary changes while issuing work permit
or reject work permit application and ask me to make necessary changes by applying for amend the name by submitting an official request to Amend Immigration Record of Landing (IMM 1000) or Confirmation of Permanent Residence (IMM 5292 or IMM 5688). This takes one month and some cases eligible for urgent service but i would lose my eligibility for re-applying as my visa expires on July 30th and possibly even post graduation work permit options if total delay is more than 90 days
Kindly advise what i need do now .. what steps i need to take
I appreciate your suggestions
Regards
