You mean if you want to carry your laptop bag with a laptop will count as a weight? No it will not.

i had a small bag 7kg as handcarry, and a laptop bag = 2 bags. yea, it can be done, but you should ask ur airline.

so before going in airplane, what i did was i just put my laptop bag inside the handcarry. no problem. ;D

ru asking glass bottle in carryon or checkin baggage not very clear question? u can take glass bottle/jam bottle in checkin baggage but i suggest u avoid glass bottle in carryon baggage as they may not like it.

anything liquid will not be allowed in handcarry

You need to check with CBSA what is allowed in regards to food items and if you are allowed to bring them to Canada.

You also need to check with your airline what they allow in luggage as it varies from airline to airline.

Considering my working life has been based on travelling and crossing borders, yes I do check and I don't bring what isn't allowed. There is no reason to get held up at customs for a jar of jam or other food items that may or may not be allowed. It's annoying to be held up and it is even more annoying to the travellers in line behind you who have to spend more time at customs for no other reason that there is someone ahead who couldn't be bothered to follow rules and directions.

You like to get people scared don't you? Your working life was based on crossing borders then u should know very well that any packaged food or processed food is ok to carry without any trouble. There is never a line at customs as they pull aside people they want to check and let everyone else go through. You are making stuff up.

You think all processed/ packaged food is ok to carry? You have clearly never been to Australia.

I dont get why people insist on carrying food items to Canada. Canada has an abundance of affordable food, you are not going to starve. You can buy everything you can get in India in Canada, even things you cant get in India anymore. I can buy 4 different flavors of 'kurkure' and i live in a fairly small sized city.

Unless its really required (like medication), no need to pack your mama's paronthe and/or Jam. And if you do, make sure you declare them upon arrival. It just may make your life a lot easier if you have to deal with customs.

so you are also suggesting OP(well sub OP) to check with CBSA and their airline to see if OP can bring in a bottle of jam into canada? don't talk about other countries this is canada forum. OP wants to bring in a bottle of jam it is his decision to bring jam or not , you don't carry jam doesn't mean everyone shouldn't carry jam either . Now tell me what do you suggest ? I think you did not read the complete string of posts and just read my last post.

Bubble wrap and double ziplock bags then wrap inside clothes to protect it. I remember bringing home Yorkshire Tea in the sealed bag it came in. The darned bags exploded and I had tea leaves scattered through my luggage. Good advert for ziplocks! Enjoy your jam!

Not just Australia.

CBSA have rather strict regulations on what to bring. The only thing remotely like "food items" I could ship to Canada from my kitchen were spices. Dried spices.

Other than that, I agree on the abundance of available jams and marmelades here.
