Help! My Family Class Sponsorship is under process and Want to know about OWP

Hello everybody,
I have an issue and if someone can help me on that. My wife is pregnant with my second child and she is the Canadian Citizen. My first child was born in Canada and she is in Canada with him. We have already submitted our sponsorship application (Outland) as I am working in the UAE.

I would like to know as my wife is not feeling well and she needs my support as it is getting difficult for her to handle her pregnancy and a kid. She is due in Aug 2017 and it will be really difficult for her to handle both the kids after that.

I have TRV for four years and I was thinking if I can apply for Open Work Permit when I go there in order to help and support my family during the processing time of our application.

Please advise, as I have to keep on working in order to support us.

You don't qualify for an open work permit unfortunately.

Only those who have applied for spousal sponsorship through the inland process qualify.

As for the TRV - it's actually a TRP you need to be holding to qualify for an OWP. A TRP is a special permit that is granted to those who are inadmissible to Canada - typically due to a crime.

If you want to work in Canada before PR, you'll need to secure a full time job offer in Canada and your employer will need to obtain an approved LMIA so that you can then apply for a closed work permit.
