Hello:

I came to the Canadian immigration website few hours ago (5/20/11) and click on the link that check my eligibility. I got a list of occupations that don't fit to my specialty (I want to apply for a college instructor job). Does it mean I can't apply :(?

Thank you for your helps,

Until another occupational list release ur profession does not fall in the list so u wont be able to apply under this NOC. But waite till july 1 new list of occupation may release. Till then do research and find as much as information for immigration canada.
Good luck

Dear,

May I know your occupation please? Many times, it doesn't directly match by exact name/title but still you might be lying under one eligible profession. And my advice is to take a close look on the given 29 occupations which is very close to your profession.

Hope for the best!

Take care,

Or you can apply under Category 2 if you can secure a job offer (either with a Temporary Work Permit + Labour Market Opinion, or an Arranged Employment Offer).

Thank you so much for your advice. I base my application on a college instructor position (NOC=4131 or 4162 (economic researcher)) as I got an MA and am working on my PhD and expecting to graduate next year. As I mentioned before, the eligiblity check doesn't show jobs relating to those positions.

Thank you again.

I am afraid it mostly does mean you cannot apply.
Chances of getting your Job on the list on the next round are also v.slim.
Hope you look for some other good option.
