Help me to plan

Hello every one.

I applied for my PR last month. I came to Canada in 2008 for master, started working on PGWP from July 2011.
I am planning for MBA at Ivey college outside Canada. So just need little idea about which year can I get citizenship. I am expecting my PR latest by November 2013. I think it's better to have citizenship at a point of leaving Canada for MBA.

I know it look like stupid question, but I want to plan every thing ahead of time.

In order to qualify to apply for citizenship, you must have lived three years of the last four years in Canada. You can count time spent in Canada before you became a PR. Each day before you became a PR is counted as half a day. However two years out of the three years required for citizenship must be accumulated after you become a PR.

So assuming you get PR November 2013, the soonest you can apply for citizenship is November 2015 (this assumes you don't leave Canada during those two years and spent November 2011 to November 2013 in Canada without a break as well). Right now citizenship applications are taking approximately 21 months to process. Unless processing time speed up, the earliest you would have citizenship is around August 2017.

Is it possible to submit the application and leave for MBA. And, let the application take its course of action.

Yes - but you must make sure that you have the three years (1095 days) of residency required to apply - ideally you should have a few more. You must also continue to maintain your PR status in Canada by living here 2 out of every 5 rolling years. Last but not least, you must be able to return to Canada quickly to write the citizenship test and (at a later date) take the citizenship oath. You may not get much notice.
