Hi,

I have a PR application in progress, however one of my parents was just found inadmissible to enter Canada on security grounds. (Police Officer) Am I now inadmissible as well?

No, you are not inadmissible to Canada. As per CIC, a person may be inadmissible if he/she has an inadmissible family member, however, family members are defined the applicant’s closest relatives, in the context of an application to CIC. It is defined as a spouse or common-law partner, dependent children, and their dependent children which doesn't include parents.

According to Section 42 of the IRPA, a foreign national, other than a protected person, is inadmissible on grounds of an inadmissible family member if
(a) their accompanying family member or, in prescribed circumstances, their non-accompanying family member is inadmissible; or
(b) they are an accompanying family member of an inadmissible person.

Please wait for more comments from other members. Good Luck!
