help in assigning NOC

I worked in a University as a researcher. In the job contract my designation was Scientific Researcher. My job duty was software development in Java. In the reference letter, my designation is written as Software Developer (Researcher). Now should I use 2174 NOC for java developer designation. Or should I use 4122 NOC for research assistant.
