help im a canadian still a student want to sponsor my husband in Morocco

hi everybody !

i m 19, canadian citizen living in Newfoundland Canada and i would like to sponsor my spouse whose currently living in Morocco .we got married in Morocco last month ,and i have all the documents such as the marriage contract translanted from arabic to english and his medical exam too.but im still a student in college and still living with my mom .

so my question is can i sponsor my husband even if im a student , don t work and living with my mom ??

i can find a job but im scared of those questions in the forms about the job ,income ,rental appartement and stuff ...

so please does anyone has some information that could help us would be much appreciated .

You don't have to have income to sponsor a spouse. You just cant be on welfare.

Go to http://www.cic.gc.ca/

Go to the immigrate section and to the sponsor my family section and to the sponsor spouse section. You can find all the requirements for who can sponsor. Also find the application forms and read the application guides. They will tell you in more detail.

It does say in there somewhere that if you are sponsoring only a spouse and/or children that income restrictions do not apply.

Just a word of warning though, you are very young, you need to be sure that this is the real thing. There are a lot of cases where people use marriage just to get visa. A lot of people have been convinced their marriage was real only to find out their spouse ran away as soon as they got the PR. If that was to happen to you, you would end up not just with a broken heart but possibly deep in debt. Sponsorship should be taken seriously like they say on the CIC website and if your spouse decides to go on welfare or disability, you are responsible to pay it back for 3 years after he becomes PR.

hey Leon ,thank you so much for the information and for the warning lol ,YES im pretty sure that this is the real thing ,i know there are a lot of scamers out there and i heard a lot of canadian got scamed by Moroccans but again people are not all the same ,there will be always bad poeple and good poeple out there .my husband didn t want to come to canada at first because he has a good life there ,he is a really sweet guy so convinced him to come live with me here in Canada because we love each other so much ,we can t live over msn and phones and emails .

anyway i was wondering do i need more documents from my husband ,i just have the contract marriage translated to english legalized and his medical exam receipt ,do i need to tell him to post me his criminal record and photos in particular sizes or something like that !! and please let me know if there are some additional documents he needs to post them to me !

Go by the instructions on the CIC website at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/sponsor/spouse-apply-how.asp
He needs to fill out his application for PR and you need to fill out the sponsorship form. He needs to send you all of his forms and you send the whole package in one piece to CIC.
