Hi there everyone,

I've submitted an application for extend my temporary resident visa yesterday, but I just realized I've made a typo in the 5257 form.

That's the 8th in the personal details section which asked me have I ever lived in any country for more than 6 months in the past 5 years other than my citizenship country and Canada, and I marked No. But actually I've studied in Ireland for four years, I should've go with Yes. Don't know what I was thinking about.

I've submitted all of my Ireland visas and marks in my passport and also listed this education experience in other parts of the form.

So my question is do I need to withdraw this application just in case I'll get rejected? Or should I just wait for their reply? Will this mistake really affect my application?
??? ??? ???

Firstly there is no such things as extending a TRV (visa). a person can apply for an extension to stay in Canada only if he/she is already in Canada and wanted to stay for more than 6 months. (the authorized stay duration is extended not the TRV or visa sticker)

So amusing you are already in canada and you had submitted an application to extend your stay in canada. in such a case:-

-If you will wait for the outcome/result of your application you might get into serious problems like rejection with a ban to enter into canada (2-5 years) due to misrepresentation. providing false information or hiding important information is taken very seriously by CIC and always results with a ban.

- Best is to send them an explanation letter (ASAP) and provide them with all the missing information (correct answer to question No8 -personal details) before they reach a decision. once they reach a decision you wont be given a chance to explain or justify your self.

- about withdrawal of the application: You haven't provided the details about when your stay is expiring, if your stay is already expired then you will be out of status the moment you withdraw your extension application and you will no longer be able to submit an extension application (because you can only apply for an extension while having a valid visitor status). Again if your status is near to expiry you may remain into a limbo until you receive an acknowledgement of withdrawal and might get out of status by the time you hear back from cic. So best is to fix your mistake by sending them the correct/missing information.

Hope it helps
