Help! I co-founded a failed startup. Can I include that in my work experience? NOC dilemma

Firstly, I'd like to apologize if a similar thread has come up in the past .With much time and energy put into finding a relevant answer, I was in vain. Hence the new thread.

Soon after my post graduation in mechanical engineering, I co-founded a company that is into developing an online platform for mechanical design simulations on the cloud. Being co-founders we didn't pay ourselves and kept developing our product. As the CEO, I had to take care of finances, marketing, program content development etc. while my co-founder was the CTO handling the tech part. Due to rising financial difficulties and delayed market acceptance, we shut shop after over a year of operations and I decided to work in the corporate.
With my experience in business development, I got into the aviation industry as an assistant manager in business development.

Now my problem is two-fold.

1. Can I include my startup experience under 'work experience' considering I didn't pay myself nor on-board any customers during the time? If yes, what is my NOC? [NOTE: I can get reference letters from my mentors,co-founder etc on the validity of my work]
2. My current work (business development) falls under the code 4163- Business development officers and marketing researchers and consultants. Under the 'Employment Requirement', A bachelor's degree in economics, commerce, business administration or public administration is required. I hold a masters degree in engineering. I secured my current job solely based on my startup experience and skills in business management. Can I go ahead with the NOC 4163 considering nearly 90% of the duties listed is what i currently do?

Any suggestions/advice would be highly appreciated.

Work experience can only be included if it was paid. Since you didn't pay yourself while managing the start-up, you should not include it as work experience for points.
