Help for Interview: Evidence of Cohabitation?

Hi,

My partner (main applicant) has been asked to attend an interview. We are a same-sex couple and have been in a long distance relationship for more than 4 years now. We have already provided the embassy with proofs of our relationship such as chat logs, call logs, emails and plane tickets (since we visit each other almost every 3 months).

May I ask for your advice on what to expect and how to prepare for the interview? Also, what other kind of cohabitation evidence(s) can we provide (I think this will be tricky since we are in a long distance relationship)?

Thanks in advance!

Consider taking photographs with you to the interview, for example, as well as any joint leases or bank accounts, proof that you are beneficiaries on each others insurance policies, wills ... basically anything that proves that your lives are intertwined since you have the burden of proof.

Take a look at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/op/op02-eng.pdf which has several sections on assessing conjugal partners for family sponsorship. Given that you are in essence trying to prove your relationship, you'll likely be assessed with a similar philosophy. This forum also has a family sponsorship section where participants deal with proving relationships more frequently.

Also, depending on when your interview is, I've heard people use CAIPS notes to prep for the interview (do a search of the forum to get details) - but unless you've been told the interview is only re your relationship, don't forget to help your partner be ready to discuss other aspects of the application in depth too.

Good luck!
