Hi...Im one more on the list of people trying to get a TRV while PR in process. Going tu visit my hubby :)

I need some help in filling out the IMM 5257 form (TRV APPLICATION), Im not sure on what to write on the following questions...

1. I will be filling out the information of my spouse (who is in Canada)...then in the bottom they ask, will that person accompany you to Canada?
Should I say YES or NOT?..I mean he is in Canada already and obviously will be with me...so?? what should I response?

2. About the purpose of my visit to Canada?
Should check > tourism? or other, and explain that I will be visiting my husband and maybe also writing on diferent sheet all things Im planing to do while in Canada??

3. Indicate how long you want to stay in Canada
What´s a safe way to answer this question?? Exact dates?? I wish I could at least stay for 3 or 4 months there...but to me it all depends on first getting the TRV

4. Funds available for my stay in Canada
How specific do I have to be?? How much its OK to say?

Okay..I think those are all my questions for now...Hope you guys can help me out
Thanks a lot in advance!!

Here is my opinion on these questions:
1. No - if he is there, he isn't accompanying you on the trip. You could add that as an explanation but they will see clearly that you are going to visit him and he lives in Canada.

2. Tourism

3. Put the dates you want to stay and be honest. But remember that they will consider how likely it is that you will return to your home country...so if you put 6 months, for example, they might wonder if you are working and have vacation? or if you are unemployed? I'm not sure about your situation...but that might influence it somehow. In our case, my husband and I visited canada together, and the visa officer at the border asked us how long we were staying and we said 6 weeks. And she commented - wow, you must have an understanding boss. are you on holidays from work? and we said yes (which we were) and we had saved up days.

4. We calculated how much we would need for my husband's visit - plane, food, entertainment - (we stayed with family, so it wasn't too much, about $1500 US I believe) and we made sure our account had that amount, we included copies of bank statements to prove it too. and to prove ties to his home country, showing he had his open and active accounts.

Hope that helps!

What is your husband's status in Canada? Do you have children that will be left in your home country that are not traveling with you during your visit to Canada? My point is that you got to have some strong ties back home that will give the VO the impression that you will be leaving Canada after your visit. This could be immediate family members, properties, stable job, business.

Here are some suggestions for a higher chance of getting approval.

1. Ask your husband to give you an invitation letter. Together with his status in Canada. Work permit(TRV), or PR, whatever it is.
2. Submit as well some documents that will show the financial status of your husband in Canada. It must be sound, otherwise the VO will think that your husband is not capable of supporting you during your stay in Canada.
3. Submit as well together with your application some strong "ties" back home that will give the VO the impression that you will come back to your home country after your visit. These ties could be the things that were mentioned earlier.
4. Some people in this forum shared, that immigrants in Canada asked the Member of Parliament (MP)of the province where they reside some recommendation letters to allow their immediate family members to visit them in Canada. I do not know if this would be possible for those who holds TRV in Canada.
5. The lesser the number of days you will stay in Canada that you will fill in your application, the higher your chances of approval. ( just an opinion) Anyway once you get the visa, nothing in there you will find the validity of the visa. It is the IO in the port of entry who will determine the maximum validity of your visa.
6. And last but not the least, pray and ask for God's blessing.

My husband is Canadian citizen (born there) and we are now waiting for my PR, but wanna visit while we wait, at least to spend our anniversary together

Here are some suggestions for a higher chance of getting approval.

1. Ask your husband to give you an invitation letter. Together with his status in Canada. Work permit(TRV), or PR, whatever it is.
Here is where I get confused...does the letter goes addressed to me or to the visa officer??? or one letter to each?
2. Submit as well some documents that will show the financial status of your husband in Canada. It must be sound, otherwise the VO will think that your husband is not capable of supporting you during your stay in Canada. ok, no problem with that, we are also sending the sponsorship approval were we can show he can support me plus a letter from my Dad where he can say that he can help me too if needed
3. Submit as well together with your application some strong "ties" back home that will give the VO the impression that you will come back to your home country after your visit. Well, the only thing I have back home and I belive could be very strong its basically to go back for my PR so then I can have a long and happy life together with my husband in Canada...I know this is nothing of what they ask but hope it works
4. people in this forum shared, that immigrants in Canada asked the Member of Parliament (MP)of the province where they reside some recommendation letters to allow their immediate family members to visit them in Canada. we are willing to try with the MP, still dont know how to approach him, any ideas??
5. The lesser the number of days you will stay in Canada that you will fill in your application, the higher your chances of approval. OK
6. And last but not the least, pray and ask for God's blessing.Definitely doing that :)

galmxcan,

On poins:

1. In Suadi Arabia visa office guidelines for visti visa application, it did mentoin clearly that invitation letter should be addressed to the person invited and not to the visa officer, and this invitation letter must be submitted to the visa office as attachment to the application form.
2. ok
3. Make a cover letter addressed to the visa officer swearing that you will leave Canada after your visit because you don't want to ruin your PR application and the chance to be with your husband "till death do you part" by overstaying or not leaving Canada after the visit. I did that with my visit application. ( I also have pending PR application)
4. Google it. To look for someone's contact address especially for a goverment official is easy nowadays using the internet. Your husband must be the one to approach him ( through e mail in my opinion is fine). Once you get a recommendation letter from the MP, submit this to the visa office together with your application.
5. OK
6. God will bless you for sure. When God binded you and made you one through the sacrament of marriage, it was never a part of His plan that you guys will leave separate lives.

asharma in my opinion they should be honest when answering that question because visa officers can easily check your records, so just have them write on a separete sheet the details on your previous visa refusal and deportation and also mention that after all now you have your PR. I think it should be fine :)
