I am Canadian doing an outland sponsorship for my Irish husabnd.

Here's my timeline:
June 2 - sent our package to CIC Mississauga

July 6 - my portion approved, file sent to London

July 13 - London received my hubby's papers

August 26 - 'Decision Made. The office will contact XXX concerning this decision.'

Sept 1 - Still no contact (and there is a postal strike in London) so my husband emailed CHC London to ask for instructions to be sent via email rather than by post. He got an instant automated email reply saying "Thank you for your email we will contact you in 28 days."

Sept 15 - still NO CONTACT!!!

Very worried that maybe our letter is lost in the post and our time for submitting the passport is ticking away. Anyone have a similar problem? Suggestions?

HELP!

thank you.

Hi Raud

Have you checked email? PR applicant not sponsor. Junk email too.

Also be aware that postal mail is severely disrupted in and out of the UK at present due to strikes.

Have you tried calling London? The only numbers for the location that deals with immigration and visas are: Telephone: 0207 258 6600 Fax: 0207 258 6333.

Oh dear. Ours (from London) has also been lost in the post, they sent on 20 August. Unfortunately we got an email about the decision. The thing is, we were only given 45 days to get his passport there, so this time is really eating into those 45 days for you. Bloody postal strikes, they've really farked things up here in the UK. Did you use this email: re-london-im-enquiry@international.gc.ca address? That's the only one I have for the London office I'm afraid.

Hi again Raud - just found this (whilst surfing instead of working here...)

All Immigration enquiries for the High Commission, London, should be conducted via mail or fax. The Canadian High Commission does not reply to emails.

Fax: +44 [0]207 258 6506

Worth a try particularly as you're worried about not getting PP to them in time.

We also have decision made as well, and this is what has worried me, damn UK strike if they make anyone lose status due to their selfishness.
We have not had email either...does everyone get an email when decision is made?
I am going to wait few more days if nothing then going to call email fax and harrass until I get an anwer

thanks to all for the replies!

Hi Lesintheuk - I emailed CHC London via the online fillable webform, I never even knew what email address it was going to since they keep everything so secret. Apologies but I am not understanding one of your sentences: Do you mean 'fortunately' you got an email about the decision? Did you make contact with CHC London or did they email you on their own?

Hi Cdnshaz - when did your ecas change to Decision Made??? I am on the verge of going crazy as well. Will soon be calling/faxing/contacting my MP if this ridiculous silence keeps up.

Hi Whoopi83 - my hubby has been checking his checking junk mail. I feel with our luck that London had the 'brilliant' idea to post a letter during the strike and not bother to email him at all.

Hi Raud

Not sure if its correct but thought it may be worth a try if you have no response to the "posted" numbers on CIC.

Raud - yes, sorry I meant 'fortunately we got an email'. They contacted us to let us know, the email address I gave you was the sender.

Are you in London or are you based in Canada? If it were me, I would actually go down to the embassy and try to speak to someone. All they would need to do is find your immigration number for you. On my husband's email it was a generic pdf letter they sent as an attachment to say to bring in his passport (as in, the pdf letter was not addressed to him, and it didn't have any reference to him, no date and no immigration number on it). His immigration number was only found in the subject line of the email - and that's all you need to bring your passport in! This is, of course, assuming that the 'Decision Made' was a positive one....

Lesintheuk - I am based in Canada but my husband is Irish. He is actually here with me now on a visitor's visa. So it's not possible to go to the London office.

I have emailed my MP, which may have been a bit over-the-top but I am convinced that my husband's passport request letter must be lost in the post. (of course, assuming it is good news)

I don't see how he could possibly be denied though. So maybe I'm jumping the gun in assuming it is good news???? argh...this whole process is so crazy!!!

Anyway, we are both flying out of Canada to Australia for a holiday in early November, so if the passport request doesn't come soon, he will have to buy a return flight to London to drop in off in person, just so we can guarantee that he'll have it in time to travel to Australia. Although, with the postal strike and delays I am seriously thinking that he should just fly over there regardless (for my peace of mind), since CHC London is probably stupid enough to put people's passports in the regular Royal Mail post.
