So this is my current situation.
Me and my partner met at a work location early April. Since then we moved in together etc in June.
the studio he had a work permit for until July 3rd of this year, became very unstable, so I moved with him to a city 2 hours away to work and support the both of us until he finds employment elsewhere in Canada.
I'm in fear that he will need to go back to the States by July 3rd.
I want to sponsor him, but we will only be common law by June?
And if he needs to leave the states, can he simply go back for a day and return - and then be on visitation for 6 months in canada?
We have a close prospect for a job, for the both of us, but we're unsure if all will work out before his work visa expires.

PLEASE HELP ;(

Once his work visa expires he will have to leave. Can he extend his work permit? If his work permit expires he can leave Canada and return as a visitor without a formal visitors visa and remain for up to 6 months at a time. However, as a visitor, he cannot legally work. If you were to decide to sponsor him as a common law partner ("In Canada Application") he could not legally work until he received "Approval in Principle" which might be granted late in the process. The process can take more than a year to complete.
