what is meant by "background checks"?i have seen in some posts that visa usually delays due to background checks so what does it mean?
background check is of applicant only or whole family??

Could be applicant , could be blood relations or both , actually we can only guess that....but I think you have already done with medical , so don't worry about that, most of the checks on your file have been completed...
Background checks are related to but not limited to your travel history, job history and criminal history etc etc

okz, i m in tension bcz i got medical call in just 1.5 week, 6th june after submission of file.. but after that, chc isbd is quiet and not replying to my e.mails and faxes which i m sending them to know about status of my application..
if visa not stamped upto 28th august,, then it will be very difficult for us to join fall session....

I also got first medical in just over two weeks,and submitted my last medical on 5th of June and since then no activity what so ever , I have emailed them 4 times but not a single answer, so don't worry u are not alone there are many like u...If visa not stamped in time , then be ready to defer...

momi bhai,,my friend and i filed application same day(we both have same profile ,same uni,same program,same bnk blnce),received medical call around same days, done medical around same dates!!!

only difference was, i was requested by CHC to send birth certificate and he was not,, and other difference was in our family info. he got visa on 3rd august(as it is usually happened to be to get after 2 months) but i m waiting till now ... dont know WHY>>>>>>>????

Avg time of issuing visa after medical is one month , but in your case they took too much time.im also waiting since 31 July .

↲I am also waiting.got medicl in 10 days and then returnd pp on 12 june. Since then waaaaiiiiiittttng. And i personaly think that background checks r usualy done after ur medicl. Before medicl they just chek that whether ur file has requird docs or not. ↲In which uni u applied?and course?

They don't reply to either fax or emails.....if you are lucky you will get an automated reply but that too of no avail!

Wait till first week of classes before you decide NOT TO JOIN.....initially the studies are not very seriouse
