HELP! application refused can i reopen without reapplying??

Hi All,

I'm hoping someone can help, offer advice or anything i can do to reverse my fortunes.

I am 30 turning 31 in February and since 2015 the applications never reopend untill March i am worried that i have missed my chance for working in Canada and i have never done it so i am devastated right now!

I applied for an IEC working youth visa and two days ago i uploaded my police clearance only to be refused today on grounds it wasn't what they were after.. I have since done some investigating and found that i needed an Australian Federal Police Clearance and have to select visa/immigration when purchasing (even though the police clearance i got was from Australia wide and looks identical to the one the AFP provide?).

It says at the bottom of the refusal letter i may reapply but since my CAL has expired i will need a new one and well applications have closed for 2015.

Is there anything i can do at all to have this decision reversed? i have no problem getting the correct documents but reapplying before my 31st seems impossible unless they open applications earlier this year.

Anything at all is appreciated, i was planning on calling the Australian Embassy in Canada on monday to see if they could help... is there any option to have it reassessed? or does anyone know what days they open and if there is any early entries?

The application process in some spots is as clear as mud and i was worried it wasn't the correct document but the document i received has the AFP symbol on it and i checked the AFP website and they look identical so i thought it was correct, i certainly didn't expect to be instantly denied entry.

Reversing decisions and reopening applications only works when CIC has made an error. In your case the error was clearly yours since you failed to submit a required document (i.e. your application was correctly refused). You aren't asking for a reassessment (a reassessment is when you ask CIC to reconsider your application because you believe their decision was made in error and your application was complete). In your case you are asking CIC to reopen a refused application AND allow you to submit a missing but required document.

We've had a few other people on this forum make the same error. They have had to reapply from scratch.

The Australian Embassy isn't going to be able to help - they have no power or influence over decisions made by CIC. If you want to try to convince CIC to reopen your application, you need to be contacting CIC.

CIC hasn't yet published the open dates for the program next year.

that all makes sense i know i have very little or no chance but being since they only opened the applications in march this year i am desperate to try anything since i am 31 in February.

do you know what the previous years open days have been? were they similar or is it possible for it to open earlier like January.. not sure if anyone knows how they work out when to open?

i will contact the cic office in Sydney for some advice on monday.

does anyone know the best cic email to contact them on to see if they could look at reopening?
