I came to Canada a year ago to study at a private college but couldn’t attend due to major reasons. Recently, I applied for a study permit extension while transferring to a public college, and it got approved. However, a few days later, IRCC emailed me, requiring verification of my status with my previous college within 21 days, or my previous study permit would be terminated. I reached out to my old college for transcripts and was even willing to pay, as other students had done successfully, but my request was denied—possibly because I was late. Additionally, my old college had already emailed IRCC about my status. Now, with the March 25 deadline approaching, I’m unsure how to respond to IRCC and worried that my approved extension might be affected. I need guidance on how to handle this situation and get back on the right path.

Confused as to how a private college could provide transcripts if you never attended. Are you implying the college was providing fake transcripts for a fee in the past? You were not in compliance with your first study permit so it will be correctly cancelled and the extension will also be denied. When did you arrive in Canada and did you attend the private college at all? What have you been doing for the past year and have you worked? If you were not studying full-time you would also be out of compliance if you worked while not studying full time. Unfortunately you should expect to have the study permit extension denied if you can’t prove that you had studied at your private college.

No, i just couldn’t attend few exams in the 2nd semester and the college demanded 2500 CAD to provide even the fail transcripts. There were many other students who were demanded money even to fulfill the attendance requirements.

For clarification:
-when did the program start and how long and how long was it?
-when were you a full-time student and did you complete the entire semester including exams that semester? How many exams did you miss and was that considered a failed class or withdrawal from the course? Why did you miss these exams and had you attended your classes in person full-time?
-do you have an outstanding tuition payment?
-did you obtain PAL for new program/school? When did you apply for new study permit and when were you scheduled to start new school?

If you cannot provide evidence from your first school that you attended school and were a full time student by the 25, then IRCC will cancel your study permit. Your first school needs to give you the transcripts to prove this. If you didn't attend school, then the transcripts obviously won't be available. So expect your study permit to be canceled.

My course began march 26 2024 and the end date was of august 2026.
"Correction on the above statement of 2nd semenster"
I was enrolled in the first semester full time and was sick during the exams and i missed all of them.
Hence it was considered a failed class. i did not withdraw from the course though.
Yes i do have a PAL for the new program . I applied for study permit this january and i was scheduled to start the new school on may 7, 2025.

You need to find a way to get a transcript from your first school. I assume you notified your first school that you were sick during exams and were unable to take them? Also assume you have evidence from doctors that you were sufficiently ill to miss your exames?

OP probably has been out of status since last fall as they never enrolled in 2nd semester. It would probably be worse if they worked during that time too. So, I don't think the transcripts will make any difference.

So did you repeat the first semester? If so your program would have ended in December. Normally if you have a doctor’s note the school has to give you the opportunity to write the exam at a later date. Did you work after you stopped studying?

They had status in Canada or IRCC would not have approved the extension. IMO the school did not report the student as they likely should have when the student stopped attending which kept their study permit valid (i.e study permit was not canceled by IRCC). IRCC is now realizing that the student likely didn't meet the conditions of the study permit and that's why they have asked for the additional information.
