Hi Folks,
New to the forum, what a wealth of information! Fantastic.
My wife (who has Canadian citizenship, but has never lived there) and I are hoping to do an outland sponsorship for permanent residency for me. We currently live in the Scotland, and both have U.K passports. We have been together since August 2009, and got married in September 2012.
We have visited my wifes extended family in Ontario on numerous occasions. They are really keen for us to move over as they think there are great opportunities for us. So much so that they have offered me a job, and a place for us to stay until we find our feet.
When we were over last summer, rightly or wrongly we hired an immigration lawyer in Toronto. It's mainly our fault but we have been pretty slow in getting our information to them, and thus haven't submitted our application yet. The lawyer assures us that the outland sponsorship is going to be the quickest way to get permanent residency.
At the moment we have enough money to survive for about 6 months, we were wondering is it possible to come to Canada, so my wife can look for work whilst the outland application is being processed? Obviously I would have a limit of 6 months on a U.K visitors visa, and would have to come back to the uk when the 6 months is up.
Does anyone know roughly how long the outland sponsorship would take? Are some quicker than others?
My Lawyer tells me I don't need to get a medical right away, and I should wait until they request that I get one, as there are different levels of medicals? So i may be wasting money on something i don't need, is this true?
Should I get my criminal record (clean as far as i know!) check done and submit it with the initial application?
I'm sure i have far more questions, but this is all i can think of at the moment.
I look forward to any information/experiences that you can share with me.
Thanks
Craig
