Hi,

I am a recently qualified and registered pharmacist in my home country ( I completed the requirements for my registration last year). Prior to that I had worked as a pharmacy assistant while getting the pre requistes to register. I have contacted Pharmcay boards in Canada who have informed me that I will need to complete PEBC before I can practice as a pharmacist in Canada. Hence for the purpose of my application should I put my occupation as a pharmacy assistant as I have over 2 years experience in that field and will need to work as one prior to completing PEBC (if I complete PEBC upon arriving in Canada).

Appreciate any advise you can give on this.

TY

You can put pharmacist assistant for EE purposes, as long as its a Teer 0, 1, 2, or 3. If it's not, you won't qualify for EE.

You also have to verify the steps to get your ECA for your pharmacist diploma. I think you have to go through PEBC, and sometimes those ECAs are not easy to get. My wife's ECA (she's a physician and had to do it through the MCC) took 9 months while mine (an engineer) took 1 week with WES.

If you are using your pharmacy degree for your application and NOC you should be listing pharmacist as your intended occupation. Your inability to practice right away is not relevant for immigration purposes.
