Hello!
Last year I decided to apply for a Masters in Canada. I actually DID apply to 3 universities, but unfortunately, I was diagnosed with breast cancer not long after that.
Because of that, I had to postpone my dreams and focus on my health. I have treated cancer the entire year of 2020, chemo, surgery, and now I am dealing with radiotherapy (it will finish in December) and hormone therapy, a drug that I will have to take for at least 5 years.
After my surgery on the Sept 30th, it was clear through exams that I have nothing left of cancer in my body, and the prognosis is the best possible. I am doing radiotherapy to avoid even more a recurrence.
I still dream about studying in Canada. I have a good IELTS score (overall 7.5) that will expire in 2021, before the application dates.
If I ever get admitted to a University to the 2021 Fall Intake, by the time I apply for the student visa it will be approximately 6 months after surgery.
My question is:
Will I be inadmissible in Canada as an international student because of my recent health issues?
Should I wait next year to apply? (and take another IELTS...)
