HEALTH INSURANCE for the initial 3 months: post landing

Hi all,

I am planning to move to Toronto by Mid of June with my wife and 1yr old kid.

1) What about purchasing a health insurance as there is no insurance coverage for the 1st three months in Ontario? Please let me know you suggestions?

Anybody who purchased the same...? Which will be better : Purchase one from Canada or one from India as a travel insurance? (I had checked with ICICI Lombard, and the quote was Rs 15426/- (Gold plan : 3 persons, 93 days, coverage amount 100,000 USD)

I am looking to buy ins from India too .. But doesnt it have some clause abt being not being an immigrant ..
Also, dont you need to show a round ticket for travel insurance .

ICICI Lombard provides insurance for immigrants... but for a max of 60 days only

CHECK OUT THE TATAAIG TRAVEL SECURE PLAN IN INDIA. THEY R NOT USING ANY THIRD PARTY FOR REIMBURSEMENT AND ALSO OFFER LONGER AND CHEAPER TRAVEL INSURANCE FOR IMMIGRANTS.

How easy is it for your to get your claim back? keep in mind you will be in Canada and you are now having to deal with India...... I am not familliar with the companies..maybe they have a branch in Canada...might make it easy to deal...

While you are in Canada, it is better to take an insurance form Canada and not from India or any other countries..
