Health Insurance for new Permanent Residents in Ontario

I see that this webpage says that

If you are self-isolating and cannot go to ServiceOntario to register for coverage, please contact ServiceOntario INFOline at 1-866-532-3161. INFOline staff will advise on next steps as appropriate.

I'm not self-isolating yet - I'll start my Permanent Residency in Ontario next week so I haven't called the INFOline yet, but I wanted to check if there's anyone here who has - would you be able to share what next steps do they recommend to register for coverage? And is there a way to start coverage effective right after you land or is it still recommended to have private insurance for a few days?
