Hi,

please help me with this issue.....
I am a TWP, not on a noc 0,A or B. I would like my wife and minor child to stay here and have some health care over mine. they are here as tourists, and entered before I got my work permit. The guy in Alberta health told me, next time they enter, they can apply on my health and get their care.but when I called again to ask f it was possible to do it without exiting the country, another woman told me that they have no rights on anything, even if I'm here.so I'm confused now.
how can they stay here, as I can proof that I have enough founds to maintain them, and for them to be somehow insured. they have to extend their stay in few weeks.

thank you!

Anybody?? Anything??

I'll write what I've found out.

So, I was talking to the Alberta Health, and I've got different answers, depending on who I talked to. so I don't understand if they don't know how to read regulations or what.
But, the guy that gave me the positive answer told me that next time they enter Canada, they get the visitor permit, and they can apply over me, to get health care covered. Of course the basic, as my employer doesn't give the benefits.
But it still is something, as we are paying for now the touristic insurance.
I have to say that we are from a country that doesn't need visa to get in Canada.
And as they are already here and their 6 months stay is about to expire, instead of leaving the country, they will apply for the stay extension, and when they get the answer, if it's positive they will get this visitor permit, and with that, they are going to be able to get some health care.

I hoped I helped someone.

I'm not positive, but I think you have to be legally admitted into Alberta for at least 6 months to qualify for healthcare and your spouse must be a legal Alberta resident. They have to apply as dependants on your account (I know that for a fact).

So try adding them as dependants to your coverage. Do note - they must be in Alberta for at least 6 months out of the year or they can lose their healthcare and have to repay any charges.

Go to one registry. If they say no, try a different registry. If you are in Calgary, I would call the registry at Riverbend, because the lady there knows her stuff. The people there are generally more knowledgable about immigration than the other registries I have used.
