Greetings

Our new baby who will be moving back to Canada 3 months after birth in July.
We are planning to have the baby in Korea, my wife is Korean. It is my understanding that it will take 4-8 months for our baby to receive the Canadian Birth Certificate for the baby-if we apply for it in Korea, but in the interim we can obtain have a passport for our child-when we move back Canada.

I have two questions related to getting provincial health insurance in BC, for our baby.

1. Will we have to wait for our child to receive his or her Cnd Certificate in order to receive provincial medical insurance?

2. If we get a Korean passport for our child instead and apply for a Cnd Certificate back in Canada, will this disrupt or increase the length of time for our child to receive provincial health care.

Thank you in advance

You can apply for your baby's MSP coverage once you have applied for his permanent residence and the application was accepted for processing. The 3 months of waiting period will still apply for the baby. You can read more detailed information on their website: http://www.health.gov.bc.ca/msp/infoben/pdf/covering-a-spouse-or-child-who-is-an-applicant-for-permanent-resident-status-in-canada.pdf
While you are waiting for the MSP you might want to get your baby private medical insurance. If you need information about that, you can contact our company by emailing arbetov.office@gmail.com or by phone 1-877-211-4301
