Health Card expires this year. Outside of Canada- not well, dunno what to do :(

Hello everyone!

I have a quick question. Got my permanent residence in 2012, Left Canada in 2013 (mid) due to heath reasons. Still recovering. Planning to come back next year. But my Saskatchewan Health card expires this year.

Does anyone knows if its possible to renew health cards while outside the country? Or do I have to come back again and get it renewed?

You would generally lose your health care coverage if you are outside your province for more than 6 months but since SK has first day coverage for newcomers and returning residents, you shouldn't have any problem getting a new card when you return. You should inform SK health that you are not living in Canada at the moment.
