I have an open work permit which will expire on 2024. I got an admission and I want yo apply for study permit. After getting the study permit, is my work permit still valid? I mean can I work more than 20 hours a week while I am studying?
Do you have any reference for that? No. Work permit will be invalid. You can't have both permits at the same time.
If the program length is over 6 months you can’t study while on a WP. Are you currently on PGWP? Are you aware that you can only get PGWP once?I have an open work permit which will expire on 2024. So you’ll need to switch to a study permit.I am on OWP now and I want to register in the university for PhD program.

I mean I know that I have to apply for study permit. My question is about my current OWP. I think I can have both permits at the same time and till the expiry of OWP I can work fulltime even if I am a studentDo you have a reference for that?
Thanks. I called cic and they told me it is possible to have two permits and in my case OWP will be valid till the expiry date. It means that I could work more than 20 hours while studying.
Although, you might be able to keep both permits BUT, you can not work more than 20 hours while studying. If you do so, you can face problems in futureThanks. I exactly asked that and they also confirmed that in this case I am not limited to 20 hours a weekAlthough, you might be able to keep both permits BUT, you can not work more than 20 hours while studying. If you do so, you can face problems in future
It can not be true , https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/work/work-off-campus.html , In your regular term, you can only work 20 hours. And , in breaks, you can work full time. To understand it logically. In study permit, our main focus is our studies that's why they put limit of 20 hours. I am just sharing the info what I found on website. to verify things, you have to wait for conditions that will come on your study permit.I exactly asked that and they also confirmed that in this case I am not limited to 20 hours a week
The officer told me that!!! My case is not related to the link that you sent. I can work full time with my OWP.
