Hi,

I was wondering if anyone applied for EE while having a Contract job? in the instructions it clearly states it has to be a full time permanent job. I have a full time job with open ended contract at the moment.
Can I still apply?

From reading the CEC requirements, I doubt that they will allow this because by its very nature a contract may be subject to an ending date at any time. From what I have read, contract experience is only considered for applicants who have are eligible for the FSW program.

The experience I have under NOC 2241, was in a full time permanent position. but since the pay wasn't great, I moved to another company where I only work on contract. I have more than 18 months of experience under NOC 2241.
The letter my employer will give me right now will state it is a full time position, I just don't think they would write permanent for legal issues.

I understand that, but CIC reserve the right to call the employer. Prepare yourself in case a CIC processing officer asks your employer the question; is this job 'Permanent'? The employer will have to say no, and this is where there is potential for so-called 'mis-representation'.

I didn't say I would write permanent any where. Last thing I need is to be accused of misrepresentation. In my understanding the Job offer category is for people applying from outside Canada. If I'm living in Canada and been working since 2013 then I should care more about the Job letter not the job offer since I am already here and been working for over 3 years.

In this case I think you may be ok. I only say what I said because you described your job as an 'Open Ended Contract'. But now you say this I think you might be ok.

Thanks. I think I should be ok as well. I just wanted to clarify.
If we live in Canada, and have Canadian education and experience we should be ok.
I think I read somewhere on this forum that people that had the required experience, but were not employed at the time of applying for EE-CEC still got their applications completed. please correct me if i'm wrong.

This is true. I know of people who have got PR whilst being Unemployed and others who have got PR whilst being 'in-between jobs'. From CIC's point of view past experience still counts and current employment does not matter so much. Good luck with your application.

Hi,
Do I need to have a contract offer for one more year when I apply even though I have worked for one and half years with the same company?
I joined this company in June 2015 with contract for 2015 and got my contract renewed for 2016 at the end of 2015 and renewed for whole year of 2017 at the end of 2016. I'm pretty sure that I'll be renewed for 2018 as well but that's not in the papers as of now. Will this end up in rejection of my application?

Thanks
Bhalaji
