Have you used affidavits of your landlords and colleagues to prove residency?

In case CIC or CJ will doubt my 1095 days of residency I am thinking of getting affidavits from my landlords and colleagues to submit at the CJ hearing.

Who has ever used affidavits in a CJ hearing?
Was is helpful in the hearing - for a positive decision?

Is an affidavit ("this person was renting an appartment in my house from 2007 till 2012 and paid rent on time") a sound proof or can still be dismissed by a suspicious judge?

I would welcome your experiences and comments.

It would be be better if the person providing the affidavit could actually testifiy to you having occupied the residence and seen you around on more than a few occasions.

Good idea...I submitted affidavit with my RQ. I think you should bring it.

"John Smith was renting my apartment from 01/2007 till 12/2012 and was paying his rent on time"?
( - Signature, date, notarized by a Lawyer or a Notary Public - )

Do you know / think if this is the best proof (along with utility bills and rental agreement)?

Can an affidavit like this be still dismissed by a Judge and can a citizenship application be denied (insufficient proof of residency - in spite of such an affidavit)?

I can't remember which decision it was, but I saw a citizenship decision which noted that the applicant supplied letters from roommates, not affidavits or notarized documents. The Judge took into account the letters, but implied that affidavits would be better.

In general: Letters are good, Notarized documents/affidavits are better.

I don't believe I've ever seen references to witnesses in citizenship cases. An affidavit is probably fine.

And its better that the affidavit gives evidence of active presence in Canada. Simply renting an apartment and paying rent might be dismissed as a "passive indicator" of residence. Its better if the landlord could document regular personal interactions with you in Canada.
