Have I resided in other countries other than Canada, how far back do I go?

Hello,

I am filling in the Sponsor Questionnaire (IMM 5540) form. It asks whether I have resided in other countries other than Canada. I would like to know if I need to list ALL of my addresses I have EVER lived in (I was born in NZ, I am completing an outbound application from NZ). If I need to list all my address I have lived in (heaps) do I need to know the exact dates of when I lived at the addresses?

Sorry if this is a stupid question! Any help would be great!

You need to provide your history back to the age of 18. Yes - you need to provide all of your addresses. Try to be as specific as possible with dates (month-year).

Did my university in the states, and probably lived in 6 apartments in total during the 4 year period i was there. Couldn't remember exactly what dates etc, so ended up putting just one address on the form, which seems to be fine. But like the previous posted said, try as good as you can.

This is another good reason to have filed an Inland application. I only had to go back 10 years. :)

Ironically, the previous version of IMM5440 (from 2003) only asked for country of residence, not individual addresses.

Please prepare to be asked to update that form to go back until your 18th. Get the information ready as you will likely be a asked to update it. Just as heads up.

I will most certainly do that. Thanks for the warning!

Do you think they'd ask for the applicant's residential history that far back as well, or only the sponsor (as per the OP)?

*edit*
I just went through the copies that I made of our forms, and my sponsor was never asked anywhere for previous residential information (probably because we filed an Inland application). Fortunately for us, IMM5440 isn't required for Inland applications. *whew*
The only document of mine that asked for this much info was Schedule A, but again...only the past 10 years.
...for now I guess! :'(

That information is for applicant only. They don't want sponsors history only current

Are you the sponsor or the applicant?

Actually, IMM5440 says that it's the Sponsor Questionnaire (outside of Canada), so...doesn't the sponsor complete this form?

Yes, but the request for longer history is usually saved only for the applicant. It may be a function of how the questions were answered when asked if ever lived somewhere other than Canada. Guessing this sponsor may be a PR themself.

I think you only need worry about your history, Ponga.

Wow. That seems very confusing as the form (IMM5540 rev 04-2008) is asking for detailed information on the sponsor, not the applicant.

My husbands form required no extra information from him, only current address was listed. I know it is about the sponsor however not as in depth as the applicant.

Hopefully, this all makes sense to the OP as she might be just as confused as I am...and it wasn't even my thread! LOL!
