Good morning. I have been in Canada since August and have a 6 month visitor permit that expires on January 7th. I would really like to stay in Canada and I have found a family that will sponsor me and has offered me a job as a live in caregiver. I called the government of Canada and they said that I just need to do the LMO then apply for my work permit after that. I then called the Vagerville office and they said that I need to apply for my work permit in one of the offices in the USA by mail. Since I have a 6 month visitor permit, I was told that I can just apply within Canada. I dont know which one is correct and what to do. Also, since the LMO and work permit take so long, I was wondering if I should extend my Visa before applying for my work permit ( so I maintain status), or after? I was going to do it asap. Please advise. I dont want to mess this up as I really want to work with this family.

For live in caregiver work permit should apply in outside of canada not within Canada. If you have US visa then you can go US apply a work permit .

You have to send your application to a consulate/visa office outside Canada. Have you received the LMO? The employer must advertise for the position at the national job bank before they can apply for LMO for you. You can apply for an extension of your visit to CPC-Vegreville. Keep a copy of the receipt paid for the extension application.
