I would've sent the application even sooner but we had forgotten the 8 pictures required. He found a way to get it to me and guess what? Wrong size! Finally, a friend of mine was visiting Cuba and was able to bring back the right photos. Needless to say, I've been a little on edge! Hahaha!

we did too....so I had his medical picture and went and did those at walmart...it was a painful process but the end result was perfect.......!!!!

Ugh and I totally sympathize with the wanting to know something, anything! You feel so powerless all of a sudden. As if organizing a wedding in Cuba wasn't chaotic and stressful enough (mine was pretty much organized the week before despite being engaged for seven months!). Still, you feel sort of in control of everything and then you fall into the dark void of silence...and wait, and wait, and wait...

You tell yourself you should keep busy with hobbies but all you can do is think about this 24/7, no matter what!

yes you are so right and even when you are busy 24/7.....a smell....a song.....someone asks you and bam.....but into the death spiral!!! LOL.....but at least with this forum you can keep busy somewhat and see what is going on with others to see how the timing is going.......as we wait and wait!!!

I think the worst are the often repeated questions "So, why isn't your husband here yet?" or "How are you enjoying the married life?"

Um...sponsoring isn't an overnight process and I really wouldn't know, would I? We live apart! LOL

Ah, but it'll just make the reunion all the sweeter. In the meanwhile, I am on going-bananas-barely-sleeping-spending-a-fortune-on-long-distance mode! After all, unlike people with spouses in other countries, we can't Skype or chat via online messengers. It's the dark ages for us all!

yes the questions are killing me right now as well....my family and friends are very supportive but I just keep saying no news yet...and the more I verbalize it the more it bugs me.....catch 22 it is!!!! but yes reunion wise....ohlalalala......

well Yoani and I decided we would email everyday.....one month of phone calls was way to much and the connection was so lousy that it was frustrating cause he does not have a land line....so we text and email and use the phone for emergenices!!!...oh yes dark ages for sure...dial up at it's worst!!!

My husband and I will "chat" by email when he's got a day off. We email each other pictures of our daily lives, like foods we ate and places we visited lately. Makes us feel a tad closer.

I totally agree about the family! They mean well, of course! Good to see such a positive thread. The internet isn't the most positive place to read about Canadian-Cuban relationships, usually!

no it is not....you have to be careful....each situation is unique and obviously only one side of the story being told....and life is way to short to be bitter/negative......some of those sights have good information but when negativity goes on and on it is very distressing....that is why, like you said, this thread is good. And of course we vent here....cause we obviously get frustrated by that is ok.....they others will pick you up and cheer you on. Having said that....my file has been in Havana for 6 weeks and I would surely love an email from them saying they have it!!!!!

and here I was hoping that do to termites and wood rotting the file would have fallen on the floor and since it was spread out so nicely and they seen all those great pictures and steamy emails that someone sat down right then and there and started to process......

Well here's to hoping there is some movement at CIC for those waiting for approval and for those of us waiting to hear from Havana....fingers crossed that we get something sort of communication this week!!!!
