Those paying attention to Mexican-Canadian government ties have certainly heard that Harper is going to Mexico later this month and an agenda item that will be put forward by the Mexican government is the lifting of the visitor visa requirements the Harper regime imposed on Mexicans in 2009. There is an article about it here from the cbc. Anyone else heard any info on this and if it is at all likely the visa requirements will be lifted?

What situation, the drug war? Was the drug war an issue for why they imposed visitor visas on Mexicans? I Never heard that, could be wrong on that.

Doing a little research just now I found two articles hinting at the Canadian business class putting some pressure on Harper, wanting the tight visa requirements lifted. Hopefully it works out.

Nothing to do with drugs. Visas were imposed on Mexico passport holders because too many were coming as visitors and then claiming refugee status.

Read the first article you listed. It explains why the visa was imposed in the first paragraph.

Well it is what I thought, I never did hear anything about the drug issue or "security" issue being the reason.

Regardless, bad news likely for Mexicans:
