Hi there,

I have posted earlier about my Mom's sponsorship. Just short background. She is currently in Canada on visitor visa. I have 3 kids, my wife, my Mom and myself. In total I should have income for 6 people in 2016, 2017 and 2018 to sponsor my Mom in 2019. My income is sufficient for 6 people in 2017 and 2018 (for 2 years). According to rules I have to make sufficient income in 2019 and apply for sponsorship in 2020. My Mom is 70 years old and traveling back and forth every 6 month to Canada is not easy in her age. My Mom lives alone in our home country. My sister far from the city my Mom lives. My kids will be really happy to have their grandma here with them. How do you guys think if sponsoring my Mom on H&C is realistic or not?

Just couple days ago, I have talked with the lawyer about this. He is the one who proposed H&C option. I don't want to waste money on the lawyer if this is not realistic.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences.

I had a similar situation, I applied for H&R at the beggining of 2017 and also hired a lawyer. At the time, the situation for family sponsorship program was even worse as it was based on lottery instead of FIFO like it will be now and chances of getting PR for my parent was very slim.

Nine months after I submitted all the paperwork I received a letter from the immigration. My application was denied ((.

Your mother has only been here for a few months. You seemed to have already won the immigration jackpot by not getting reported for not meeting your RO and was then able to sponsor a child when was not compliant with RO. H&C is not meant to be used as a substitute if you don't qualify for PGP.
