Dear all,

I'm looking for some advice on how to apply for PR for my mother under H&C

I'm a Canadian Citizen and my mother's a 76 year old widow , she has no siblings and I'm also an only child.

Although I am married, I am my mother's last living relative and, at her age, she's starting to have more needs and also the emotional factor of not having anyone back home.

Do you know if there's any H&C arguments that apply here ? The parent sponsorship program is lottery and I unfortunately have not had my name picked up for the last few years . My mother's aging and I can't wait forever until the day I'm lucky (if ever)

Thanks in advance

Why is supervisa not an option? Do you have proof she can not meet her basic needs to care for herself? Many parents in a similar position as yours and parent sponsorship is not guaranteed. You can file for H&C but it does come with risks. If denied she may have difficulty visiting Canada in the future.

Yes, this sounds like a decent argument for H&C. Approval isn't guaranteed of course but the fact you are an only child and there are no siblings would definitely work in your favour. She will need to be physically in Canada in order to submit the H&C application - so would need to come over on an eTA / TRV / super visa first.

Suggest you move over to the Refugee / Asylum section of the forum. This is where H&C applications are discussed.
