Hello all,

Your suggestions are much appreciated.

both my spouse and I are Permanent Residents of Canada. Our child was recently born in India, and we are planning to bring them to Canada.

We seek your advice on whether we should apply for a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) or a Permanent Resident (PR) Visa for our newborn. Could you please provide guidance on which option would be most appropriate, as well as details on the application process, required documents, and expected processing times for each?

Your assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated. We look forward to your prompt response.

You can only apply to sponsor your child for PR if one of you is living in Canada. If both of you are outside of Canada, then the only option is to apply for a TRV.

@scylla Thanks for your quick response.
Yes, am in Canada and my wife is in India and it looks like we are eligible to apply for Sponsorship to child for PR.
Would be the expected processing time to get PR to child ?

while the sponsorship application is in progress, Can I apply TRV to child?
can we have the two applications in place ?

I'm not sure what currently processing times are for PR. I expect somewhere between 8-10 months.

Yes, you can apply for both applications at the same time.
