granted only 2 month extension of visa instead of 6 month?

hello,

I hold a visitor status in Canada since September 2013. I am married and my husband have a PR status. I have also submitted my PR application(sponsorship) since Jan. 2014, (outland). I have applied for my first extension of stay and was granted to September 2014, I re-applied for a second one for a period of six month and was only granted 2 month out of six. Which means I have to leave Canada in Nov 2014. The thing is, I don't want to leave my husband and the security in my home country is really terrible. and I know for a fact, that If I left Canada, I won't get another visa to re-enter and I would have to wait for my PR application to be completed ( which would probably take an 18 more month period).

My question is, why was I granted only 2 month out of 6? what to do now? do I apply for a third extension? ( I also, got my CSQ in April 2014)
Or, is this an indication that my PR is almost done and in order to have two statuses in Canada (visitor and PR) , they only extended it for 2 month?

Please help!

Apply for a third.

Or it could also mean that it is about to be rejected....

But worry not, the extension and the PR have no relation in that regard.

Thank you.

But you got me worried now, in case it will be rejected. Will I be able to contest the decision or appeal ?

what do you think is the most appropriate way to follow to stay here?

You have to post this question in the corresponding forum.

The one you mentioned is good.

oh dear god do not worry, that they gave you a two month extension is in no way a sign that your PR is going to be rejected. I don't know why the other member in the forum told you that. Which country are you applying from for your PR? Maybe, if anything, they would give you an interview (if you haven't even had one yet, there is no way any officer would know if your PR is going to be rejected, there's always an interview before rejection). Apply for your extension again, maybe you didn't show sufficient funds or maybe you couldn't prove that you could support yourself in Canada without working during the entire process of your PR. Have your husband write a letter supporting your extension application, saying that he is going to support you completely and he wants you to stay with him while your PR application is in process.

Appealing isn't a realistic option due to the time it takes and the cost. Your only realistic option is to apply for another extension once you are close to the end of this one.

Thank you Lellen, Thank you Scylla.

I will definitely re-apply for a third extension and will let you know the decision . I will also do your recommendations as for the funds and a letter from my husband that he wants me to stay with him during the Process.

I guess I also made a mistake in my first message.
What I meant was: is the extension for two month an indication that my PR is almost done and the decision will be made soon and so in order NOT to have two statuses in Canada (visitor and PR) , they only extended it for 2 month? by other words, could it mean I will be getting my PR in November by the time my visa extension is over?

Let me if you ever heard of such cases before.. Again thank you all for the support!

As I stated in my first message, there is no relation between an extension duration and a PR result.

In the same manner you think CIC is not giving you more months in order to not overlap status, you could also think CIC is not giving you more months so you leave as soon as the PR rejection is given. In other words, if you don't have ANY REASON to think of a good outcome then don't think about it (the same applies the other way around).

I doubt a second extension will be approved. It looks like you are living here permanently too. I dont think you can appeal refusal of extension.

There is absolutely no connection between your PR application and the length of your visitor visa extension approval.

Yes - we've absolutely seen cases here where people were only approved for short extensions. Others have been refused. It's entirely up to CIC if they grant you an extension and for how long.
