I granted asylum in Dec and was about to file for family petition to bring my wife and daughter from Syria to USA.
my wife and daughter were here since 2012 and left 2015 after my son was born and died here in the US.
started my asylum case was granted finally but now with this ban won't allow me to bring them here especially that the ban is indefinite for syrians. even though their names were included in my asylum case that means I can bring them here to me but now I can't and my daughter has asthma and needs medical treatment asap!
Is there anyways I can revoke my asylum here and go to Canada and apply for asylum and have my family come to Canada?
since the PM said he will help anyone who's effected by the ban which in my case I am effected but by the law if I'm protected in any other country I can't claim asylum in Canada and I'm really lost and confused.
please help

While Canada's PM has said he will help those refused by the US, Canada's immigration policies haven't been changed in any way yet. The same rules apply now as applied before Trump was elected.

I don't believe there is any way you can ask for your status in the US to be revoked and still be able to travel to Canada. If you make a request for your status to be revoked, I believe the US will remove you from the country before you'll be able to travel to Canada.

If you are able to travel to Canada, at this time you would not be able to claim refugee status in Canada due to the Safe Third Country Agreement (unless you fall under one of the exceptions of the Safe Third Party Agreement).

So ultimately hard to say what's possible. And again, as of now, Canada hasn't changed anything.

Thank you for your quick reply,
the Om was clear when he said he will help anyone who was effected by Trump's order.
I was hoping that my case would apply because I am effected.
regardless of I granted asylum or not from the US but now it's useless to me and to my family member. don't you agree?
and I've been calling lawyers and pro bonos in Canada but no one could help! I'd really appreciate it if anyone could refer me to a lawyer or a charity for immigration services that I can talk to.

The PM was clear in his tweet about helping those impacted. But he didn't say what he meant by that (there could be many many different interpretations) and nothing has changed in how Canada's immigration laws are applied. Some might argue his tweet was more political than anything else.

I agree that your asylum status in the US is now useless to you since you can no longer bring your family over to join you. For what it's worth, I think the whole thing is idiotic, ignorant, sad, embarrassing, and more. Trump is a moron and a horrible human being. Having said that, I will once again highlight that our PM hasn't actually introduced any new policies or rules to help individuals such as yourself. Until he does, I would be very hesitant to head to the Canadian border or to give up the status you have in the US.

Hopefully others can recommend a lawyer who can assist you. Unfortunately I don't know of any.

Politicians say a lot of things before they actually figure out how to implement what they're saying.

Right now there is a rule in place (Safe Third Party Agreement) the prevents you from claiming asylum at a US/Canada land border, unless you have family members already living in Canada. http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/agency-agence/stca-etps-eng.html

Until there is an official change to this rule or CBSA is given clear instructions by the PM to make exceptions in the wake of Trump's immigration ban, them nothing has changed regardless of what the PM has said. You will unfortunately just need to wait and see if they actually act on helping people affected by the ban, and what exactly they will do to help.
