Hey there!
I am a divorced mother of a 5 year old daughter. My parents want to visit my mothers niece at alberta along with my father and they want to take my daughter too. I am unable to join them as i will not get a long leave from my job. Does the visa office issues visa with grandchild and grand parents? or it will be a problem? any one know any information please share!

Hi,

Does the visa office issues visa with grandchild and grand parents?
The visa office will issue TRVs to anyone who proves they have genuine reasons to visit + strong ties to return to their home country.

In this case, your parents must submit:
1. Letters of consent from both yourself and your ex-husband permitting your parents to take your daughter abroad.... from XX to XX dates along with the details of the trip

2. Proof of your parents' relationship to your daughter i.e. through your birth certificate which states your parents' names + your daughter's birth certificate which states your and your ex-husband's names

3. A divorce decree if your married name was different from your current name

4. Proofs of school enrollment, tuition fees paid, etc for your daughter.... to prove that she will return to her home country + any other similar proofs

Hope this helps :)

If the divorce court has granted you the sole custody of your daughter then your parents can include a copy of this court order.

You must give a consent letter as I have stated earlier.... you do not require a consent letter from your husband

thanx for your reply. But our divorce was a mutual divorce. And i dont have any ourt order stating the custody of my daughter. her father does not seem to be interested in her anymore.so he is in no contact with us.

Even in the case of divorce by mutual consent, the court must have granted either permanent custody to you.... or shared legal custody with your ex-husband.

Taking the child abroad without permission could be considered as child abduction.

You will face the same situation even when you apply for a passport for your daughter (if she does not have one).

Your options are:
1. Contact your ex-husband and obtain a letter of consent

2. Wait until your daughter attains the age of majority to travel abroad without parental consent
