When my wife applied for the immigration, she is still single. We got married last winter and my wife has emailed CIC about the marital status change. However we didn't receive anything after that. We thought they already know the change, but we are wrong. :( She just got her immigration visa today, and the marital status shows single.

I plan to contact CIC about it. However, since her case is already closed, will CIC ask her to apply again and therefore wait for another several years

I am arealdy a PR in Canada and therefore no need to add me in her application.

Really frustrated now. Appreciate your help here. Thanks.

According to CIC any change in family composition should be notified to visa office before issuing the visa or if not done at least before landing. She should have send a copy of your marriage certificate also and not only the e mail info to visa office with file number and details.

Thanks for the reply Wilson.

Yes, now I understand we should send more information about the marital status change rather than an email. I am going to do it after the long weekend. However, the issue is if this marital status change will cause her case to be re-reviewed from start. Here is what is said in canadavisa website:

If a marriage takes place after a Canada Immigration Visa has been issued, but before the applicant has landed in Canada as a Permanent Resident, the Canada Immigration Visa must be returned to the Canadian Immigration Office. A new Application for Permanent Residence in Canada must be submitted.

Does this mean she has to reapply again!! I definitely don't like to see this. :(

Since I am already a PR, adding my name as her family member should have no impact on her application. So I am a bit frustrated here. Do you know if anyone meets similar situation before? Appreciate it very much if anyone can shed some light.

Thanks.

According to my understanding there could not be an adverse impact on her, because you are already a PR. However, it could be easy for you to make a call to the CIC call Centre at:

1-888-242‑2100

Try in the morning from 08.00, to avoid the busy tone.

Thanks Wilson. Since we live in Canada already, we actually went to the border and walked into the immigration office to ask their advice. The officer kindly just corrected the marital status error there. They believed it was not an issue since I am already a PR. My wife then did her landing there. Everything went smoothly.

Appreciate your help. Thx.
