Got rejected for Open Work Permit because I applied too early?!

I'm holding a post-graduation work permit that is expiring in Jan 2015, so I applied open work permit on Sep 25, 2014 because my common-law partner is still studying full time post-secondary in Canada. But I got rejected, and the reason being is that my job (data entry clerk) is no benefit to Canadian citizens. I applied based on my marital status but got rejected based on my job? And then I called in CIC office this morning, and the agent told me that the rejection letter didn't state the reason clear enough, and he said the reason should be that I applied four months before whereas people usually should apply within three month of expiry date. Has anyone heard of anything like this before? :( I'm so confused.......

Hello needhelp123needhelp,

May be you can try to re-apply in the November but it's really not make sense of rejection. But I think the main reason for your rejection is your job title which is (data entry clerk) You should give any alternative name to this job like computer operator, Computer Assistant, IT Office Assistant or some thing like that which is more valuable post. Data entry is really not a profession is just like a very small job you can't make even this to your profession even for this job don't have any professional study.

So I suggest your to re-apply and this time change your job title alternative to data entry clerk. Best of luck.

Thanks,
Sonu Ahmad
