Hi All,

I have received my Canadian permanent residency approval letter today!!! Thank you all for patiently answering my IELTS and other questions. I applied in 0213 category in Apr 2010 with a 1-2 years project management and 9 years total work experience mostly in India. I am currently working in the US and I am trying to keep working in the US for a year or two before moving permanently to Canada hopefully with a matching job offer.

1) The first thing I noticed in the government communication is that - I will be issued a 1 year visa to land in Canada and have have to apply for a Perm Card once I land there. How long is the issuance process? Also, do I have to stay back in Canada from the time of application to the time the Perm Card is issued? I am asking because I need to take a leave from my US employer to go to Canada and have to return back to the US within a reasonable time frame. What has been the experience of those who landed in Canada recently?

2) Also, the visas are issued for myself along with my family(wife and toddler kid). Does it mean all of us have to make a trip to Canada to get our Perm card? or can i just visit by myself and get the cards for all three of us?

Thanks in anticipation.

Hi

1. Residency visa issued to you will be cancelled upon landing or after date of expiry...which ever happens earlier. Once landed, VO will put up your COPR to PR processing and u will receive your cards within approx...50 working days (max). After landing and applying for Social insurance number in Canada, its upto u to stay around to receive cards by yourself or go back to US and request your friend or family member to receive PR cards on your behalf and arrange delivery to you. At the time of landing, the address you share with VO will be used to deliver your PR cards

2. All the person (applicant and accompanying members in application) must do the landing either alltogather or independently but before expiry of visas otherwise cancellation and redo the whole process for who so ever left behind. Key is all have to do landing and enter canada once and apply for SIN.

gud luk

well answered by asyousuf

just one more thing if you and your family choose to land separately you must do the landing first (Assuming that you are the principal applicant), then your wife and kid can do their landing. Landing trip can be very short.

almost forgot ;)

CONGRATULATIONS

and good luck
