hopefully it should come with in 15 days as you have done your medical already in Feb 2013

Some visa offices ask for the passport very early in the process, so I wouldnt take it as an indication of the process coming to an end; however good luck!!!

If Islamabad's VO is anything like Beijing's VO, a passport request is not a guarantee of anything. They will take your passport as a precautionary measure because they don't want you to apply for a visitor visa before your PR gets processed. They take it very early in the process, before the criminal/background checks, which often take months whether or not an interview is waived. Not trying to let you down just being honest. Beijing VO has been holding my wife's passport since March.
