Hi I got my PR card late last year, I then came back to India as i cannot got back until the end of this year. My passport however is damaged and I will have to apply for a new one. Will getting a new passport affect my Canada PR status in any way ?
I also have a few valid visas o my current passport, will they become void or can I still use them to travel as my work involves a lot of travel.

As I know visa on old passport is always valid as many persons travel very frequently. And along with their new passport, they carry old passport(s) carrying visa which is a very normal practice...!

You can either carry both passports together or you can go to the embassy of the country where you have a visa and ask them to transfer the visa from the old to the new passport.

Will this have any implications on the Canada PR card as on my PR card the current passport number is mentioned, if I get a new one should I have to get a new pr card as well?

That is news to me. My PR card never had the passport number. In the old days before PR cards, you used to walk around with the landing papers folded up inside your passport and then it was not a problem if the passport number didn't match.

Just get your new passport they will cancel your old passport and will endorse it with a stamp to the new passport with new passport number on your passport, keep both passports stapled together for the duration your visas are valid on the old passport. You do not need to get previous visas issued on your new passport this will cost you time, money and hassle.

Thanks

You don't need a visa at all. You already got your PR Card, right? Just renew your passport before your departure. Present your PR card at the port of entry and you'll be fine. That's why you have that card.

Best regards.
