Got COPR, but not ready to move before expiry...

Hi all!

(I've seen similar questions to this but they were all fairly old, and since the whole system has evolved, I thought it worth to ask again.)

I applied for PR for my family and I and we got our COPR documents a couple of months ago (yay! ). Even though we have been going through the process for a while, the COPR expiry dates leave a rather short time for us to settle everything before our first land in Canada. So our plan is to make a 2-week trip to Canada, then come back to close everything (job, apartment, belongings) calmly, and make the actual move in August (bonus: our son catches the beginning of school year).

But then I am concerned with documents... we clearly will not have our PR cards in a 2-week trip. My plan is to give a friend's address who could then mail it to us at our country of birth. Are there arguments against doing that? Are there alternatives so we don't lose our PR approved status? Should/can I just sign my COPR and not request a PR until a later time, when we are ready to permanently move?

We come from a Visa-exempt country, if that makes a difference at this point...

hey, yes u can do a two week trip to canada and come back to finish ur affairs.

- yes, u can give address of ur friend for PR card......and if some is coming to ur country , he can carry the PR card with him for you.......there is a small chance but still a chance that PR card might get lost in the mail while going overseas .....rest assured many of my friends did short trips and their relatives bought their PR card to India .....it didnt had any issue when they came back to canada again.

- alteratively , u can apply for PRTD ( PR travel document) ...on cic website it says if u are PR and outside canada and does not have PR card with u , u can apply for this one time PRTD visa so u can enter canada again
