Hi everyone,

I am here in Canada on a TRP, I found a job in Toronto the employer is willing to apply for a LMIA but has no idea never done it before, the role is for a programmer/software developer planing on applying under

2174 Computer Programmers and Interactive Media Developers

what are my chances of getting a positive LMIA?

It can be challenging to get an approved LMIA for IT jobs since there are many Canadians with the required capabilities. However this doesn't mean your employer can't try - he may very well be successful. He'll need to start by advertising the job for at least a month to prove no Canadian could be found for the role. Then he can submit the LMIA application. Applying for the LMIA will involve paying a $1K fee (your employer pays this fee) and then waiting several months for the LMIA to be processed

And I believe you are in Canada on a TRV and not a TRP (if you are in Canada on a TRP this means you're inadmissible to Canada).
