Hi All,

I will be landing on 5th of July.
I am not sure what is the level of details i need to give in the goods to carry list.
Is it needs to be too descriptive.
Can anyone who has landed please share his/her "goods to carry list". It will help others decide how much to mention in there.

The section on http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/newcomers/before-border.asp mostly talks of money

Declare all items

If you do not tell an official that you are carrying items that should be declared, you may be fined or put in prison. The money you declare can be in the form of cash, securities in bearer form (for example, stocks, bonds, debentures or treasury bills) or negotiable instruments in bearer form (for example, bank drafts, cheques, travellers cheques or money orders).

I need to know whether to put details details like books, clothes, shaving kits, utencils , laptops, ipads etc that's being carried.

Thanks

you don't need to get into detail. you can batch items such as 2 suitcases of clothes and shoes, 1 bag of toiletries, 3 boxes of books, then provide a value for each lot and total it on the form.

For the electronics, be sure to indicate the model or serial number.

Personally, I maintained 4 classifications - furniture, electronics, kitchenware, and assorted items; for the good-to-follow list. As CDNOR2014 mentioned, you can put similar items in a batch. Use your judgement to determine which ones.
