I would be landing to Canada in end Sep with my three kids, my husband ll be joining us after a year or so due to his job. Kindly tell me is it safe to live alone with my kids. GTA is not my first priority so what other choices I have available where I can find good accommodation in cheap price + good schools? How about London and Hamilton? One more thing I wont be working during this period so keep this point in mind secondly I would like to do some diploma/ certificate courses related to medical field since i am a doctor so any course do you suggest which offfer me good job prospects after completion?

Wasallam,

I think you should reverse your approach about finding residence. Find out the courses or diplomas that you want to do and search which institutes are offering those. Based on this you can decide to move in a place that is closer, in order to manage your commute time. Commute time between GTA and London or Hamilton can range between 2-3 hours one side (assuming you'll be using the public transport). So plan accordingly.
You can find cheaper residence even in GTA as well. Try doing some research on kijiji.ca . If you don't have a vehicle in start then it's always better to find a place that is closer to public transport and grocery stores, as carrying the groceries home during winters is not a fun thing to do :)
Depending upon the age of your children, you can admit them to school or may have to find a day care before you plan for your studies.
