Hey all !!

I just have one question. I am finally applying for my canadian citizenship on Sept 5 :)
I am leaving on vacation for about 7 weeks a few days after i mail off my application.
My question is if me going on vacation will in any way jeporadize my application.
I will be returning to canada as i am employed on contract and will begin a new contract upon my return after my vacation.

Any advice??? Much appreciated ! :)

Legally, it's not supposed to make a difference.

In the case of people who spend longer times abroad, CIC may treat their cases as suspicious and take longer processing them.

For seven weeks, I think it's unlikely you'll have a problem, but I'll let others who have experience answer this question.

Yes you can take as many vacations as you like....i took long vacations too however whenever i went for a vacation i had advised CIC of it just to be on the safer side...as lets say if they request you for any sort of further information/documents regarding you application and you don't respond in time your case can be delayed or could be considered abandoned...7 weeks straight is a long time. Choice is urs anyhow.

Hey guys !

Thanks so much for the advice ! I really appreciate it.
I will call CIC and let them know and see what they advise if anything.

It takes roughly that period of time for your application to be opened and loaded onto ecas...if there is a problem they will send the whole application back. In your shoes I would just apply and leave as is no need to involve CIC. If you submit at the 1096 day mark and the application is problematic and you have to re-submit then you have to meet the 1096 mark again...depending on when your 1096 days are in the 4 year window this may or may not be a major issue with a 7 week absence from Canada.
