Going in and out of canada

hey my people, i should send my application by month end and i know for sure how long this thing takes. i however, kinda plan to get a a visitor visa to enable me go in and out of canada as many times as possible spending the maximum time allowable until my permanent visa is issued. can this work out as i am so certain that i dont have all those years to wait in naija durin my application...the idea is to legally be in canada pending the outcome of my application as i dont wish to be an illegal immigrant.

Yes, that's the way to go. The process would be a bit of more paperwork... & an interview [likely], but that's how most of us go inside Ca [though for genuine business purposes].

Going by your previous posts, your Visa consulate is Lagos. Even without the PR application in place, to get a Visitor's Visa in Nigeria is pretty difficult...possible but difficult. If your intention is to travel freely in/out of Canada during your PR application waiting period, you should apply for the Visa first before you put in your application. The reason being you'd have to prove to the consulate that you have very strong ties to your home country...i mean really really strong ties; you may also have to give them an itinerary of your trip. Even at that, you may be given between 1mths - 6mths, at most 1 yr (very rare).

Apart from showing your intent, you have to prove that you have very strong ties to your home country and after your "business deals", you'd be heading back home. I usually advice people to write an additional letter highlighting their ties with extra documents. Most of the time it works.

Apart from establishing strong ties to your home country, you also have to show that you have no interest living in Canada which is a disqualifying factor when you have an ongoing PR application.

Yes it is possible. It depends on how the consulate is satisfied about the intentions of the applicant. I did apply and got mutiple entry for 2 years without interview or questions asked from Abu Dhabi.

ok thanks. was gonna rush things but gave it a sec thought. i will send in my PR application and apply for the other visa at a later time...beefing up my pack. i am married and have got a few stamps on my passport and a valid UK visa. this shud raise my bar small for thier shop na......

Actually, I believe Dual Intent applies in this case. You can actually be given a TRV while your PR application is in process.

That does not mean anything. Again, you cannot compare the consulate in Abu Dhabi to that in Lagos. My point is, whatever your decision, you have to isolate your case. In principle, either way (where you put in your PR before your TRV or vice versa) should work if you make a strong case but with the "Nigerian factor" in place, you have to go the extra mile. Just basing your decision/application on your marital status and a valid UK visa is not adequate, methinks. Regardless, goodluck!
