i am wanting to return to canada, i am a canadian citizen by birth, but i live in the us. is it possible to cross the border w/out a passport, just a birth certificate? I have no visa, or anything like that. I heard that they have to have a passport to cross the border now. is that true?

Yes it is possible, no you don't need a passport going North, the US is expected to make that a requirement going south in the next couple of years (They keep delaying)

so i would just need my birth certificate to cross into canada?
Yes, but you are going to require other documents that are the same name as the person on the birth certificate. If you have had no attachment to Canada previously you are going to have to prove that you are the person in the BC.

Yes, you can. Minors age 15 and below may enter Canada by land or sea with just their birth certificates. Please bring the original or a certified copy.
